Doors to Moria Painting

Hadn't pulled out the paints in a long time, but I painted this for a birthday present. A scene from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, where Gandalf attempts to open the secret door to Moria.

It was painted on a 18x24 canvas using acrylic paint, below is right after finishing the artwork:

When I was planning out the painting, I first made a very simple digital painting. Oritinally I had planned on adding more of the characters from the scene, but I liked the focus on Gandalf alone. It just goes to show the difference between sketch and final, haha. All I needed was something to plan the layout and where I wanted colors to be drawn:
